Norway’s Underground Punk Secret Finally Explodes: Scampi Chips Dip & Campari Drop Ferocious Single “Let Go”

Out of the gritty underground of Bergen, Norway, Scampi Chips Dip & Campari crash onto the scene with their explosive new single “Let Go.” Raw, fast, and unapologetically loud, the track is the first taste of their long-anticipated debut album WELL, IT AIN’T FAST FOOD, arriving via Canada’s SODEH Records.

Formed back in 2007, the quartet, Scampi (Hanne Maren Meldahl), Chips (Maiken Andreassen), Dip (Marit Antonsen Tjugum), and Campari (Karoline Skuseth), have been cult fixtures of Bergen’s DIY circuit for years, tearing through clubs, bars, parks, and even outdoor swimming pools with their sweaty, chaotic live shows. After nearly two decades of underground buzz and a cassette EP (Night Terror, 2023) that quietly circulated through punk radio across Europe and the U.S., the band finally delivers a full-scale statement.

“Let Go” hits like a three-minute detonation of garage punk attitude. Driven by breakneck drums, razor-edged guitars, and shout-along vocals, the song tears down the boxes, labels, and expectations society throws at people, especially women. Its relentless chant of “Let go!” turns into a cathartic release, equal parts rebellion and liberation.

The lyrics pull power from the legacies of iconic women in music and culture, names like Frida, Aretha, Billie, Bessie, Courtney, Joan, and Poly Styrene, blending punk history with a sharp modern bite. It’s confrontational, sarcastic, and self-aware in the way only true garage punk can be.

Musically, Scampi Chips Dip & Campari channel the unfiltered spirit of legendary female-fronted punk and garage bands such as The Runaways, The Donnas, Bikini Kill, and The Slits, but with their own chaotic Scandinavian twist.

Released just ahead of International Women’s Day, “Let Go” lands as both a celebration and a challenge. Loud, gritty, and impossible to ignore, the track captures everything that made punk dangerous and exciting in the first place.

Sometimes the underground waits years before making noise again. When it does, it sounds like this.

Biography

Scampi Chips Dip & Campari (SCDC) is a four-piece punk force from Bergen Norway, featuring Hanne Maren Meldahl (bass/vocals), Maiken Andreassen (guitar/vocals), Marit Antonsen Tjugum (drums/vocals), and Karoline Skuseth (keys/vocals). Between them, they’ve logged time in more Bergen underground bands than most scenes could handle, including MT Six, Disdain, Tafatt, Hindenbürg Rock & Grill, and The Wednesday Knights. With over 50 shows under their belt, from a chaotic, unforgettable tour of China to a wind-machine-assisted main stage slot at Kanalrock, SCDC speaks a universal language of distortion, sweat, and pure punk energy. Back on the road over the past two years, they’ve torn through venues across Norway, from Vill Vill Vest to Rockeklubben in Porsgrunn, leaving ringing ears and fresh booking requests in their wake. In a scene that still pushes women out as life gets louder, SCDC pushes back. They stand for punk as stubborn joy and survival, not age or gender. After a cassette EP, they’re now gearing up for a full album, aiming to bottle the same raw intensity that keeps stages, big and small, on the brink of collapse.

SCDC is:

Scampi (Hanne Maren Meldahl) - Bass and Vocals

Chips (Maiken Andreassen) - Guitar & Vocals

Dip (Marit Antonsen Tjugum) - Drums and Vocals

Campari (Karoline Skuseth) - Keys and Vocals
