Riiver Brukes Bares an Open Wound on 'Promises Made'

After the quiet nocturnal gaze of ‘Little Boxes’ and the free spirited fire of ‘Rebel Soul’, ‘Promises Made’ turns the focus inward again - this time to the long, lingering ache of a heart that was promised everything and left with nothing.

This is a true story. Someone was offered a shared life, a future, children - the whole ordinary miracle. But those promises turned out to be no more than sand in a desert, tears in the ocean, snow in the arctic, trees in the forest - everywhere and nowhere, all of them, a multitude of lies. They walked out the door. Years later the one left behind see’s the love of their life living the exact life that was taken: the partner, the home, the children. Time and life has moved on, but the scars still ache. The best years taken and thrown away. Dreams abandoned by the roadside, lost somewhere in translation. And now it’s simply too late to start over.

‘Promises Made’ is a raw, soul-deep track of residual grief - the kind that doesn’t explode, it just keeps cutting. Heartache you’ll never fully know. The kind that drives you a little insane from deep in your soul. For anyone who’s ever watched the life they were promised  being lived by someone else…and still feels the knife long after the dust has settled.
