Biography
Born from the ashes of some of Queensland’s finest underground acts, and doused in raw energy and relentless passion, Citizen Rat is a punk/metal force emerging from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Their sound fuses blistering riffs, chaotic intensity, and anthemic hooks with lyrics that cut deep. If Fugazi and The Bronx had a love child raised on self-doubt, resilience, and Introspection, it would sound like this.
Citizen Rat has spent the last two years tearing apart and rebuilding their sound. Refining their craft through relentless live shows and writing sessions with Tom Eggert (Sony) and Jai Sparks (Hello Gardener), they’ve honed a sound that’s aggressive, cathartic, and undeniably their own. Now, teaming up with Jordan Bain at Airlock Studios, they’ve captured something powerful, melding punk urgency with modern metal weight, all while pushing their songwriting to new heights.
Onstage, Citizen Rat is a spectacle, explosive, unpredictable, and immersive. Their high-energy performances have left a lasting impact, whether headlining Solbar, tearing through QLD’s Rotten Fest, or sharing stages with Civic, Hoon, Total Pace, Fangz, Being Jane Lane and Fake News.
