They Told Us Death Brings Life Asylum Road Tear That Lie Apart in “Death Starts”

Northern Ireland’s metal force Asylum Road arrive with “Death Starts,” a crushing new single taken from their EP Cerca Trova, out today. It’s not just heavy, it’s confrontational, philosophical, and aimed straight at the core of human contradiction.

Driven by punishing riffs, sharp dynamics, and a modern metal edge, “Death Starts” explores how belief systems, particularly around religion, mortality, and redemption, have shaped both our purpose and our destruction. The track digs into a deeply rooted paradox: the idea that life begins after death, and how that notion has been used to justify conflict across generations.

Frontman Darryn McCartney lays it out with unsettling clarity, questioning how faith, when distorted, can evolve into justification. The song challenges the idea of moral immunity, exposing the dangerous comfort in believing that actions in life are ultimately erased by promises of eternity.

Lyrically, “Death Starts” is relentless. Images of corruption, blind judgment, and manipulated truth collide with a repeated mantra that cuts through the noise: death starts with life. It’s a line that lingers, not as reassurance, but as a warning.

Sonically, Asylum Road lean into a sound that fans of Killswitch Engage, Sylosis, Parkway Drive, and Machine Head will immediately connect with, aggressive, precise, and built to hit with impact. But beyond the weight, there’s intent. Every breakdown and vocal strike reinforces the message: question everything you’ve been told.

With Cerca Trova now unleashed, “Death Starts” stands as a defining moment, a track that doesn’t just hit hard, but stays with you long after it ends.
